StrathkinnessStrathkinness is a charming award winning village set between the two rural back roads which lead to St Andrews - the High Road and the Low Road. This is the High Road looking east towards St Andrews. Mount Melville is at about the 6th lamp post down on the right.Below is Strathkinnes Main Street as seen from the crossroads at the Tavern. The Low Road can be seen running right to left.
The Strathkinness Tavern is an essential visit when in Strathkinness. A warm welcome awaits you and there you will find real ale and good wholesome food. As well as the convivial bar (traditional live music on Monday evenings) there is a stylish restaurant room. It is a mere 200 yard stroll from Mount Melville and is highly recommended. Looking northwards (here with the aid of a telephoto lens) we see the River Eden and RAF Leuchars with the Dundee and the Angus hills beyond. Regrettably the RAF fighter station has now closed and we miss the Typhoon jets which used to be seen regularly in the surrounding skies but never this close!
